Left Behind is a grunge composition utilizing flowers, many textures, and vintage ephemera, but it is actually about what is left after a death. After a recent death in the family, I started thinking about all the things a person leaves behind after they pass away. Possessions and fragments of objects can tell a lot about the life the person has led, and all of the things that came and went during their lifetime; new inventions and conveniences, all of the consumption involved with living, and changes in the world around them. We think of legacy as an intangible, but physical fragments, tangible pieces, can speak volumes as well. Left Behind is a tribute to the things in which our departed loved ones found joy, and with which he or she lived a full life.
